インドの高校生とのオンライン授業

12月19日の放課後に、インドのBombay International Schoolの高校生とオンライン授業を実施しました。

インドと日本の時差は3時間半と比較的時差が小さいため、本校からインドで行われている実際の授業に参加しました。実施したのは、SEE Learning(Social Emotional Ethical Learning)という授業で、社会的・情動的・倫理的な知性を伸ばすためにアメリカのエモリ―大学で開発された国際的なプログラムで、思いやりのある関係性を築く方法を教えています。本校では、社会に貢献するプロジェクトを立ち上げられるようにするために、2023年4月からSTEAMに導入しており、今回、初めてインドの高校生と学ぶ機会を作ることができました。

言語の壁、技術的な制約など課題は沢山ありましたが、それ以上に高校生たちがお互いの意見の違いや共通点に関心を持って、コミュニケーションをしようとする姿勢が素晴らしいと思いました。このような機会を通して生涯にわたる親友を世界中に作り、その仲間たちと協力し合いながら世界をよりよくするために活動してくれることを心から願っています。

今後も改善をしながら、国際的な授業を実施していく予定です。

On December 19, after school, we held an online class with high school students from Bombay International School in India.

Since the time difference between India and Japan is relatively small at 3.5 hours, the students participated in an actual class held in India from our school. The class conducted was called SEE Learning (Social Emotional Ethical Learning), an international program developed at Emory University in the U.S. to develop social, emotional, and ethical intelligence, which teaches how to build caring relationships. Our school is introducing this program to STEAM in April 2023 to enable students to initiate projects that contribute to society, and for the first time, we were able to create an opportunity to learn with high school students from India.

There were many challenges, such as language barriers and technical limitations, but more than that, I thought it was wonderful that the high school students were interested in the differences and similarities in each other’s opinions and were willing to communicate with each other. I sincerely hope that through this opportunity, they will make lifelong friends around the world and work together with them to make the world a better place.

We plan to continue to improve and implement international classes in the future.
